OPGW INSTALLATION The fact that cables can carry both electrical power and optical transmissions means that the full capabilities of new or existing low and medium tension network structures can be fully utilized. Since the telecommunication market has been opened up to new telephone operators, data transmission and video service providers, there has arisen the possibility of installing OPGW cable in a wide variety of areas.

The OPGW conductor is usually composed of a central non metallic tubular structure containing optical fibers, which is situated inside the steel or electro-welded tube. The tube is surrounded by one or more layers of steel or aluminum, aluminum alloy and steel alloy wires. The specific type, size and number of these wires are selected to suit each individual application. In some cases, it is possible to use a non metallic optical fiber cable that is helically wound either on the protection conductor or on the phase conductor. We have the proper equipment to provide our customers with all of their aerial installation needs. FIBER OPTIC SPLICING SERVICES


Specializing in all types of fiber optic splicing and termination techniques, in both multi-mode and single-mode applications PAIS can provide the following services.
Single Fiber Splicing
PAIS utilizes the latest state of the art single fiber fusion splicing machines. Our preferred splicing machine is the Sumitomo Type 36. We will also perform mechanical splices on request.
Mass Fusion Splicing
PAIS utilizes the latest state of the art ribbon fiber splicing machine. Our preferred splicing machine is the Sumitomo Type 63. We can perform 2,4,6,8,10,or 12 fiber ribbon splicing. We will perform mechanical ribbon spicing upon request.
Simply put, fiber optic splicing involves joining two fiber optic cables together. The other, more common, method of joining fibers is called termination. Fiber splicing typically results in lower light loss and back reflection than termination making it the preferred method when the cable runs are too long for a single length of fiber or when joining two different types of cable together, such as a 48-fiber cable to four 12-fiber cables. Splicing is also used to restore fiber optic cables when a buried cable is accidentally severed.

There are two methods of fiber optic splicing, fusion splicing & mechanical splicing.

FIBER OPTIC MEDIA CONVERTERS


MEDIA CONVERTERS A fiber media converter is a networking device that makes it possible to connect two dissimilar media types such as twisted pair with fiber optic cabling. They were important in Interconnecting fiber optic cabling-based systems with existing copper-based, structured cabling systems. They are also used in metropolitan area network (MAN) access and data transport services to enterprise customers. Fiber media converters support many different data communication protocols including Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, T1/E1/J1, DS3/E3, as well as multiple cabling types such as coax, twisted pair, multi-mode and single-mode fiber optics. Media converter types range from small standalone devices and PC card converters to high port-density chassis systems that offer many advanced features for network management. On some devices, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) enables proactive management of link status, monitoring chassis environmental statistics and sending traps to network managers in the event of a fiber break or even link loss on the copper port.
Fiber media converters can connect different local area network (LAN) media, modifying duplex and speed settings. Switching media converters can connect legacy 10BASE-T network segments to more recent 100BASE-TX or 100BASE-FX Fast Ethernet infrastructure. For example, existing half-duplex hubs can be connected to 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet network segments over 100BASE-FX fiber.
When expanding the reach of the LAN to span multiple locations, media converters are useful in connecting multiple LANs to form one large campus area network that spans over a limited geographic area. As premises networks are primarily copper-based, media converters can extend the reach of the LAN over single-mode fiber up to 160 kilometers with 1550 nm optics.
